British-born Clive Pearse is a familiar face to American television audiences of HGTV - America’s leader in home and lifestyle television programming. Clive is best known as the host of ‘Designed To Sell’ and the network’s hit reality series ‘Design Star’. He also hosted the live ‘HGTV Dream Home Giveaway’ shows.
‘Designed To Sell’ was one of HGTV’s highest-rated series with a catalogue of over 150 episodes. Clive Pearse and designer Lisa LaPorta showed viewers how to add to the value of their home with a small investment, resulting in a top dollar sale. The show also has a book of the same name.
‘HGTV Design Star’ was HGTV’s first reality series and the most watched show in the channel’s history. ‘HGTV Design Star’ Season Two broke network records with the highest rating for any series premiere. ‘HGTV Design Star’ Seasons Three and Four continued to break records with the highest series ratings ever.
The ‘HGTV Dream Home Giveaway’ also broke broadcasting records as the largest giveaway in cable television history with a total prize in excess of $3 million. Clive hosted the live television events – over 40 million viewers entered to win the grand prize of a new luxury home.
In Europe, Clive Pearse was best known for hosting three television shows for NBC Europe: award-winning cult show ‘On The Air’, primetime series ‘Entertainment X-Press’ and the extreme adventures show ‘Ushuaia’.
‘On The Air’ was Europe’s first 'radio-style' live call-in TV show. Broadcast daily to 35 countries and 65 million homes, the top-rating program ran for over 5 years. The show combined celebrities in the studio with music videos and viewers’ phone calls and became the liveliest and most controversial talk show on European TV. Clive was voted ‘Most Popular European TV Host’ and ‘On The Air’ was voted ‘Most Popular Talk Show’ by Europe’s Top 10 Magazine Awards. Clive went on to share the ‘Most Popular TV Personality’ award with Oprah Winfrey.
‘Entertainment X-Press’ was NBC Europe’s primetime entertainment show. The program covered movie releases and reviews, film festivals and location shoots. Clive interviewed stars such as Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks, Sally Field, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Eddie Murphy, Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Kurt Russell, Nicolas Cage, Pierce Brosnan, Kirk Douglas and Sandra Bullock. He covered the Film Festivals in Cannes and Deauville, and provided entertainment reports from Hollywood.
‘Ushuaia’ was NBC Europe’s primetime adventure series, named after the most remote place on earth. Clive interviewed world-class explorers and adventurers including one of the last TV interviews with climber Alison Hargreaves before her tragic death on K2. He also boldly - and generally unsuccessfully - attempted challenging stunts himself!
Clive also enjoys a successful voiceover career, lending his talents to countless national TV and radio commercials including Jaguar, Land Rover, Hotwire and Ziploc and to animated feature films including characterizations for the Academy Award-winning movie ‘Shrek’.
Clive is actively involved with animal welfare and works closely with his friend, Academy Award nominee Linda Blair. He is a Board Member of her foundation found at www.lindablairworldheart.org. He also works closely with non-profit rescue group Hounds Of Hope.
Clive emigrated to the USA from the United Kingdom in 1997 and became an American Citizen in 2002.
